This collection is inspired by two very special albums: English composer GARRY HUGHES second release on the now defunct Audion label, titled ANCIENT EVENINGS; and Los Angeles electronic composer STEVE ROACH's epic two album portrayal / of the ancient aboriginal landscapes of Australia DREAMTIME RETURN. We'll also hear music by frame drum percussionist GLEN VELEZ, from SEVEN HEAVEN, by GRATEFUL DEAD drummer, ethnomusicologist and purveyor of "gourmet space" MICKEY HART from DAFOS, and by Los Angeles spacemusic composer KEVIN BRAHENY from WESTERN SPACES. Unusual rhythms and unusual instruments are the most obvious features of this music, but on a deeper level, these artists are all exploring a different sense of time and space, which we can share / as we learn how to experience it.
